Dating back to the 14th century, the house today reflects the tastes of the last owner, Alan Wyndham Green: it is designed to feel comfortable and more informal than other properties – a house, rather than a museum, so that visitors can imagine what life might have been like here. Tours of the house are led by expert guides unravelling the 600 years of history and revealing an excellent country house collection of furniture, art, porcelain and curios. Enjoy delicious homemade cakes, cream teas and refreshments in the old Billiard Room. The famous yew hedge surrounds the formal gardens with the wild, Italian and walled gardens beyond, full of colour and interest through the seasons, maintained close to Blomfield’s original designs. Events, courses and workshops are run throughout the year to be enjoyed by all – more details can be found in the ‘What’s On’ section of our website. Godinton is an excellent teaching resource tailored to suit individual needs: please get in touch if you would be interested in working with us. A working estate with lovely walks, close to the picturesque village of Great Chart. Absolute gem. A wonderful warm welcome. Garden is compact with excellent paths. Fab for children and Grannies! Pristinely kept beds that offer more exciting colour and texture to come. Lots of diversity and long, beautiful views with main house and all the working buildings in perfect condition. Will look forward to seeing the house when it opens and will buy a season ticket. 35.00 for two for the year but as each season will bring wonders with it, I shall at least go 4 times a year. A credit to the Trustees and all the garden and maintenance staff!

At the moment we can only visit the garden (and have a coffee and cake:) but very enjoyable couple of hours and more. At this (spring) time of year, the wild part of the garden and the ponds were fun.

House wasn't open due to Covid19, but the gardens are absolutely excellent (and varied). The "circular walk" is 4 miles(ish) through lovely countryside if you feel up to it - sadly not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs due to the abundance of kissing gates and styles.

Lovely garden estate, with a small cafe and toilet facilities on site. Interior currently closed (Oct 2020). Think it cost 7 for adults without concessions, although the RHS have some kind of arrangement in place, if you're a member.

Beautiful gardens, lots to explore, flowers, ducks, sheep, sculptures, charming nooks, once the tea rooms can open again it will be the perfect afternoon out

Although the house is not open yet it forms an characterful backdrop to the gardens. These are divided into "rooms" - though "Scenes " may be more appropriate because of the large size of several of them. The statues sited around the garden appear to be mainly marble allowing finer detailing than moulded stone. The statue of Pan is full of character! Any garden of this size has areas that have "gone over" and, with some swathes of daffodils in decline, tulips, bluebells and fritillaries move the interest to other areas. Paeonies are coming through to continue the succession into May/June. This is a garden worth returning to. Full marks as well for the cake and coffee.

Beautiful and well maintained gardens which appear not to be on the main tourist track... Well worth a visit if you are in the area... You won't regret it...
