Lovely castle tucked away. We had a good family few hours out. We did the Easter trail which was great as it makes you read all the information.

We stumbled across this gorgeous ruin on the way home from Wye Valley Butterfly Park. The walk from the car park was lovely. A sweet little gift shop you can buy some reasonably priced gift in at the front. It sold mostly Welsh things that were adorable, like ciders, jams and wines made locally. The area was just beautiful, and the weather made it quite eerie and “Wuthering Heights”. We explored the castle for about 40 minutes, so it was a quick place to visit if you pass through the area. Nice place too enjoy your day, also has a open coffee shop and Saturday there was also a barbecue. Don't expect too much from the castle it is a ruin.

Visited Goodrich Castle again today. Very well organised. You need to book online in advance. There's a one way system where it's needed, safe entry to toilets, shop and the castle keep. There's a good audio tour to download to your smartphone or buy a guide. Lovely coffee and cake. All staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the weapons of today are face masks and hand gel.

Very impressive castle, we visited in bad weather and although it was a bit slippy there was still a lot to see and do. Great information panels and audio guides available. Be aware it is a bit of a walk in from the car park, about 10-15 minutes. The walk in and much of the site would be wheelchair friendly (excluding high bits - spiral staircases!). A great few hours.

Like all good castles it's a bit broken down while still full of towers to climb and dungeons to be scared of the dark in. Once you've walked around the castle, it's possible to get down into the (dry) moat and have a walk around the outside for a different view. Like all public attractions it's closed at the moment, but it's still beautiful to look at from a distance when out walking.
