What's the point of buying of a ticket? Every morning I'm stuck at the entry gate behind droves of maskless fare dodgers saying \won't scan mate\. They're let through, even getting an apology sometimes - \sorry mate must be broken\ One ejit was pretending to scan a bottle opener this morning. He got let through... And here's me paying 8/day for a ten minute journey.

Stockport is a fairly large station with trains to Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Scarborough, Nottingham, Norwich and many stations in between. Station staff are available to assist at the entrance and on the platforms. Toilets are available.

Arrived in Stockport from Cardiff close to midnight due to delay only to find out that none of the electrical sockets are working at the station. They all were off. My phone was dead so I wanted to charge it since there was no single socket in the train either. I decided to charge upon arrival in the station so I could order Uber. Plently of sockets but all are off. What is the use of them then?

Stockport is functional , the must see are the Plaza and the Air Raid Shelters , but the council have all but killed commercial interests such as manufacturers in favour of pleasure, leisure the Merseyway area seems to be dominated by , nail bars , e-cig and mobile phone shops of which there are more than 20 of them all within a half mile many in the same street. The re-development of redrock is focused on leisure at many prices that the majority can probably not afford.

I love stockport station and here is why, so I've been using the station for years, it's great there are trains to manchester every few minutes and seemingly far more often to everywhere else than neighbouring stations, there is a good reason for this though. I learned recently that when stockport built the viaduct, the giant bridge for the trains, part of the terms of the construction of the bridge was that any train that uses it must stop at the stockport station. This is why it is the only stop on the way to london for the virgin speed trains, meaning for the people in the local area we do not have to commute into manchester to get to the capital. An interesting and hugely beneficial bit of Stockpory History. The station is also well kept, provides several machines to buy tickets, a counter with up to 3 members of staff to answer any questions or purchase tickets, the gates to the platformer are manned by a happy to help team of friendly staff too, there are exits for all of the platforms to both the stockport and edgeley sides of the station, and the screens displaying train times are well located and easy to find and read. The 4 platforms provide room for an enormous number of people and yet even when full stockport doesnt suffer the same foot traffic congestion as other stations. It's well designed, single handedly put our beloved stockport on the map and provides thousands a commute to work and travel to town any hour of the day. Alex
