Abandoned mine, nice area in the sun and some decent buildings around that can be accessed. The mine shaft can be entered but has some cave-ins.

Very interesting place to go if you like looking at local mining history.

Interesting place. You can see one of the two mine heads and into the entrances of two tunnels. Worthwhile looking at YouTube videos of the place as well.

If you love abandoned buildings then this place is definitely worth a look. Lovely views and walks...mine buildings and mine shaft now disused but still there to take pics of!

Set in the middle of the North Pennines area of natural beauty, Grove Rake mine is about as far from any major centre of population as it's possible to get in England. I went there to photograph the disused mine, but most of the mine buildings have been demolished and the pit head fenced in, making it a bit less interesting. Nevertheless, it's a good place to go for some peace and quiet, far away from it all.
