I'd been playing for many years as a self-taught guitarist but Michael was able to help me improve in a short time with his fun and interesting lessons, helping me overcome some bad habits and increasing my theory knowledge. He's a patient teacher who knows his craft well and makes the lessons very enjoyable.
I decided to learn to play acoustic guitar on my retirement as it was something I had always wanted to do. A postal flyer and a phone call was all it took. It turned out to be one of the best decisions that I have ever made. Michael is very dedicated and an excellent tutor. In the two plus years that I have been attending classes my guitar skills have increased greatly thanks to Michael’s attention to detail and encouragement. If you have the drive and desire to learn Michael will definitely help you reach your goal.
I've been learning guitar with Larne guitar school for about three years. I'm a late starter beginning age 65! It's one of the best things I've ever done. Strangely the things that scared me the most to begin are the things I enjoy most like playing with other students. Michael is a gifted teacher who understands his pupils needs. We are very individual & Michael knows what we need, & when we need to try something different as we struggle with new things like lead guitar! The important thing is to practice & don't get disheartened. I'm sure I would have given up without the encouragement I've received, & innovative teaching. What have you got to lose? Give it a try.
I began trying to teach myself guitar but after a couple of months my motivation to practice began to dwindle. That's when I started my lessons with Michael. From the very first lesson I could already see big improvements correcting bad habits I had developed. From then on we had started learning chords and songs and have now progressed on to picking and Barr chords. Each lesson I had was fun and challenging at the same time, and it's easy to say it's the quickest hour of my week. I couldn't recommend Michael highly enough as a guitar teacher.
