A former Trinity House Light Vessel permanently located nect to the Quayside and open 7 days a week for visits. It cost only 2 for entry and we looked around unhindered, including below with its cabin and living accommodation. It has displays of mainly 1960s memorabilia including radios due to its connections with pirate radio from that age.

Definitely worth seeing. Tony the host is very enthusiastic with a wealth of knowledge.
Several bits of history here. There's the fact that so much of the original manned lightship is still intact, showing something of what sea-level was like. There's also the pirate radio memorabilia. Then there's what every lightship needs - a garden. I kid you not. A great piece of double recent histories.
Working on board today and popped up the lantern to take pics in the winter sun.
I get the impression that they cannot advertise that the ship was used in the film 'The Boat That Rocked'. It is full of music memorabilia but there is very little to guide you and tell the story of pirate radio. There's also nothing about its role a a light vessel. It's still a fun visit with freedom to explore many areas if the ship . . . .
The last Lightvessel which still has all its crew accommodation intact. Run by the Pharos Trust, a local charity which does great work to promote the quirky and delightful town of Harwich. The guides and volunteers on the ship could not be more helpful and passionate about their project. All the other lightvessels which now encircle our island are unmanned and have had their original fixtures and fittings removed so this one is a great place to see a slice of industrial and maritime history. Well worth a visit.
Its a lightship and you can clamber about it and explore. Some historical references. Much better than looking at them moored in the river
Nice boat look around on tony and the other stuff to are nice and one oeros sadly he not around but keep it going
