Our go-to family meeting place for 3 generations, the wall for the obligatory photo line-up: some things never change! Outdoor-only dining this covid year, handled with good humour and efficiency by staff, including a young man of polite, unruffled initiative - noted! Pre-booking essential at busy times. Food a notch up from pub standards. We can recommend the steamed haddock with Pembroke potatoes and crunchy green veg. Its central position in Dale makes The Griffin a delight for people-watching, the beach and pontoon.

Id really like to like this place (its in a lovely location) but our experience wasn't good on our visit. Food was very poor value in comparison to other villages pubs and pretty dire in terms of quality. Burger rolls were dry and almost inedible. Our party ordered three and all were rock solid. Lasagne portions were very small and roughly half the size of a microwave ready meal single portion which would have actually impressed more. In fact all portions were on the minimalist side. Sweet menu was good but very expensive. We had mistakes on both drinks orders we placed (one corrected drink came out wrong a second time). Staff were friendly which is the only saving grace. We did visit on a bank holiday weekend during CV19 which may have created issues but the venue did not seem to be massively snowed under with customers which may have explained mistakes. Overall I would not recommend The Griffin to friends although I may have suggested the mother in law should give it a try.

The food was amazingly good. Good view too. It did get a little noisy and tea was a bag in a cup. However the fish was fresh, combinations inspiring and cooked to perfection. Booking required.

Ate a couple of meals here during post-lockdown August. Not part of the \Eat out to Help out\ scheme and were operating an \outside only\ dining system. If cheap and cheerful is your thing, this is not the place for you. The menu is not extensive, but the food is fresh and delicious. On our second visit here I ordered the mussels and I have never seen such big mussels in the UK! The staff are attentive, cheerful, polite and know their way around the menu should any guidance be needed. As I've said, not the cheapest food you'll eat, but worth every penny. Dale is also a fabulous setting to eat a meal outdoors. Recommended.

Very nice Fish restaurant In Dale. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. The food Is excellent all be It a tad pricey. That said we would definitely visit again just not as often. Location Is perfect at the end of Dale with lovely views over the bay and a short 5 minute walk from the local car park. They should also be commended for keeping a great pint of ale. A nice relaxing experience for us. Booking a table Is highly recommended.
