The lady at the door was really lovely and explained that they were a bit short staffed because of furloughing, but she was able to find us a table and was really welcoming. Sadly it was downhill from there. The lad serving us was friendly but seemed to have too many tables to serve. He apologised when drinks finally came out but the Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla Orange gin served with a wedge of orange that I ordered came out as a bog-standard Gordon’s with lemon *and* lime (who does that?). When our pizzas arrived they were anaemic and barely cooked. Honestly the worst pizzas we’ve ever paid for. The roast was decent though and made the difference between and a 2 star and 1 star review. Any normal meal out we would have had desert and a second drink, but we couldn’t get our order taken and the kids were getting impatient. We paid in cash rather than wait for the card machine. In terms of Covid, there was a one-way system and handwash on various tables but the same menus were being shared by everyone, there was no handwash in the loo and no PPE on any of the staff, including the chap serving the roasts. A few small changes could make a big difference. Good parking though.

Visited The Barley Mow pub on a day trip to Hayling Island. Its about a 10 minute walk from the seafront. There is a large free car park. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The drink prices were fairly reasonable. There was a carvery and pizza restaurant on site although i didn't use it on this occasion. It was a warm day so i sat outside on the tables there. There was a beer garden, but it was temporarily closed as builders were building a covered smoking area. The rest rooms were clean and smelt nice.

My family and I had a fantastic time at the barley mow on Tuesday evening. We were greated by a very welcoming and friendly lady at the door who explained how the restaurant is working post Covid. The premises was clean and tidy and we felt very safe eating here during times like these. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and seemed to be enjoying their jobs and to top it off our meals were delicious, the carvery and pizzas are cooked to perfection! We are looking forward to returning when we next visit Hayling.

Great carvery. Choice of meat and veg. Pizza n other food available. Value for money. Charming interior. Friendly staff and service. Booking advisable. Disabled access and seating. Social distancing and sanitising. Well worth checking out

Best chicken I've ever tasted. Juicy and creamy which I didn't even know was possible! Turkey and vegetables both amazing too. The place itself was quiet and relaxing with good music playing. Highly recommend! ***Edit*** Unfortunately it has started to decline in quality over the past 6 months or so. The food is usually dry and they have raised their prices. The vegetables are good but unless that's all you're eating I wouldn't recommend it anymore. We have stopped going completely as its just an average meal that isn't worth driving to
