As a frequent traveller through the tunnel, I must say that I agree with it being an amazing experience. Driving through an undisturbed landscape surely captures the abilities of engineering at its finest. Today, as I drove through there, was a beautiful mist over the blanketed forest of trees, quite amazing. Though one complaint I might add is the gathering of water at the southbound entrance is super dangerous, it is around a quarter-mile from the entrance and it makes it very difficult to steer the car through due to the aqua planning experience, not good! Please drive with caution!

Impressive structure and feat of engineering - the tunnel is one of several specially constructed green bridges in the UK, designed to conserve the habitat around Devil's Punchbowl from being severed by road development. There are several walks around the bridge, including on a public footbridge which itself is greened and offers views of the southern entrance. Driving through the tunnel is very modern and well-lit, though as with all major trunk roads will suffer congestion.

The speed limit is set too high. I am a fast driver but in this tunnel the speed should be reduced to 60 miles per hour to avoid accidents and. Create congestion.

This was a great experience, I recommend it heartily, the tunnel goes right through the hill its amazing, you dont have to do anything but keep on driving and let the hindhead tunnel do all the work!

Excellent tunnel let down by incompetent control room. Minor crashes leeds to the tunnel being closed but no they don't send traffic down the other but instead trap people for hours on the A3. Random speeds limits for no reason and both tunnels closed when random maintenance is being carried out which takes you on a massive detour.

When first seeing the tunnel we were fascinated immediately. It has a middle earth Shire vibe as it cuts through the greenery most impressively. Upon driving through it at night we were struck by how many safety doors there were. If there was to be a fire in the tunnel, like in Independence Day, rest assured you would stay alive. A cracking tunnel - these one star reviews are an absolute joke.
