I originally went on to claim a tax refund in May 2015. I tried to use the online facility with the Post Office, but the process failed. I managed to get on with Experian. After my husband received his tax refund today July 3 2015, I decided to track mine. I couldn't get back in to the Experian site, even after I had phoned the service. They gave me the HMRC number. I waited for 30mins to be put through to HMRC. I gave up after this because I'm not sure if I am being charged on my mobile?

The gentleman I spoke to was very helpful. He explained why I had had a bill sent to me for class 2 N.I. when I thought I was owed money, rather than owing it. I was not aware payments were taken 4 months in arrears had I known this, or had your "standard letter" explained the situation better it would have saved a call. My main issue is why did the letter I received show a 0845 premium number. When I queried it, the gentleman said there was an 0300 number I could have used. It was not on my letter and I could not find it easily on the internet. I am very unimpressed that a government office would show a telephone number other than one with a local call charge on the internet or any letter sent out. Please if the number is available, advertise it better. Finola Cuthell
