Absolutely fabulous day. The guys who volunteer are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. It's clean and safe. It's a very relaxed atmosphere and the kids are welcomed and encouraged to join in. What a fantastic place will definatly be going again.

If you like birds then this is a must place to visit as it has about 100 different birds to see. The centre is so well organised with different aviaries for all the different species of birds and some birds are out in the open on a perch. The staff are amazing as they all love what they do as volunteers, very knowledgeable and answer any questions you have. They do a twice daily flying display where they bring out certain birds to let them fly & talk about them, it truly is astonishing to watch them in flight. Whilst there they also brought out an eagle and allowed you to hold in on your arm with a glove on, as they do with the other birds that fly, interaction with them is fantastic. My husband paid for a hawk walk which he loved every minute of the hour walking round with the bird (under supervision) of course with Tania who is so knowledgeable about all the birds. I loved the place and would definitely recommend a visit as you won't be disappointed.

A lovely place. Beautiful birds and very pleasant, keen and informed staff who really care about the animals. You feel comfortable asking questions and the visit was enjoyable, entertaining and educational. Our 4 year old really enjoyed seeing some of the owls up very close. A great place for a short visit 1-2 hours if you're around York. They do have a café but we didn't visit it on this occasion. The cakes did look good...maybe next time!

Bloody awesome! Made me want a barn owl even more! Went there twice in three days and got at least one picture of every bird. Thx for the good time (Here are some pics of my fav birds) would 1000% go back! (I'd also like to volunteer there but I don't live anywhere near)

I organised a group photography event at the York Bird of Prey Centre and they staff and volunteers were amazing! The communication with the centre before the event was easy and we were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. We were looked after by a volunteer called Kevin who was wonderful! Kevin's respect, love and devotion for the birds was evident, and he was incredibly knowledgeable. He was really friendly and helpful, as were all the staff/volunteers that I encountered. It's clear that the birds are very well looked after and have a fantastic life. Thank you for such a wonderful day!

The staff are so welcoming and they are all volunteers. Their talks during their shows are so informative and educational and they have fun with it at the same time, they involve you as much as they can in their shows with the birds whilst keeping the birds health and happiness their main priority. They rotate the birds so to see as many as possible stay all day to see every show.
