I stayed here for 21 months and I must say, I did not enjoy my stay. I found checking in to be nightmare! The reception staff wouldn't accept my bags, no bar and they kept asking me to take my clothes off for a search and to sit on a BOSS Chair! Rude! They 'seized' my mobile phone and my personal medication, accusing me of being a criminal! Disgusting! When I was shown to my room, I found a very unsavoury looking man sleeping in a bunk bed in my room! No shower facilities! Smelly! Gross! The food at this place is just horrendous! The portions are small and the food itself tastes of less than nothing! The activities offered by the staff here are very labouring and they offer very little in the way of an entertainment team! They weren't open to any suggestions or critique from guests, in fact, they wouldn't even let us check out again when we liked! Honestly, you'd think you were in Prison! I do not recommend it at all!
As far as English prisons go this is a Basic experience. No windows /perspex, only shreds of prison issue clothes /towels /bedding. I was fortunate to have good company and the food was far better than a NHS hospital.
Checked in on a Saturday Night, couldn't check out for another ten years past when I asked to! Cheeky lot!
Good but before entry make sure to invest in soap on a rope
