My daughter left this school last year with fantastic results. She was always very happy and despite not knowing anyone when she started in year 7 she settled really quickly. The teachers worked hard to support her, especially in her final year, when they were there every evening and during school holidays to support her with her coursework and revision. We always found the communication between home and school good and despite what another reviewer said I always found reception polite and helpful. Longedendale is a really good school. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to other parents.

6 years ago I was a student at this school and while it was six years ago when I was 11 and my review might not reflect on the current state of the school but I still think its important to write this. I was horrendously bullied at this school, I was attacked regularly such as having hair ripped out, being kicked, punched, pushed down stairs and groped. Teachers didn't manage the situation well at all and it continued until I had to be taken out of education for a short while and moved schools. Still in therapy for bdd and trauma to this day despite it being six years. I can only hope that the school has come to manage mental health and bullying better than they did when I was there as the teachers were friendly and the place had a lot of potential.
Did not prevent my son from being bullied in his first year we had to deal with it After achieving expected grades he was then excluded from attending his end of year prom due to 3 behaviour instances in the Feb Prom was at the end of June and they happily took funds at the start of June for tickets knowing they were going to exclude certain individuals
The moment i walked into this school my life changed for the worst. I dont know if it was the people or the work but something shifted my reality from an equal amount of sadness and happiness to hating everything I've become and everyone that gets too close. It's brought out the worst in me that i knew was there but had always secured away and controlled. Now its out of control. The teachers aren't educated in mental health the way they should be. Instead they dismiss depression and anxiety as if it doesn't matter when it does. The teachers in the aspire centre are so hard to talk to about this and when it is discussed it doesn't make us feel better it makes us worse. Notice when someone is in pain and help them. Don't let it take over there life.
This school is horrendous. It trys to seem good when in reality it fails. I have had so many troubles in this school that they started to blame my family for my problems with their school environment. First off, they give you this impression that they'll help you in any way possible. I went to visit a teacher in the aspire centre, which they take as a blessing in that school as they said, to talk about some issues I was having around school. She kept changing the topic of the conversation and said it was a homework related matter, then she blamed my mother for not raising me properly and not supporting me and she shouted at me for criticising her and the school. Its a joke! And its not just me, but a few others too. The majority of people who visit the \Aspire Centre\ say its horrible and that instead of helping they isolate you like a disease and wait until you leave the school entirely. Then there's the actually purpose of the school that they seem to miss, helping the student with their education. I'll will credit them, they try their best and usually the teachers are very helpful and give a damn about the well being of the class , but they just expect to work indefinitely. We've had those off days, but at longdendale? Not allowed, instant detention. And lastly, the ego of this school is SO inflated that I actually can use it as a hot air balloon. If you even say this school is bad in front of a member of staff, they will explain why it isn't...in great detail. All in all, this school is horrific to the pupils. I will say that the pupil that might complain about the teachers dishing out detentions left, right and centre are usually extremely rude and incompetent, but there's not right to treat all the same way. This school needs to be taught itself.
