I'd injured my foot playing tennis in May 2018 and after 3 months' improvement, healing plateaud -although I could manage with insoles, I could not at all walk barefoot. I had a couple of different medical opinions about what should be done but Mr Vernois' approach of not undergoing unnecessary surgery but operate on the cause not the symptom, made the most sense to me. The minimally invasive technique he has championed meant it was incredibly painfree as I only needed painkillers for the first 24 hours after the ankle block wore off. I was horrified at the size of the screws but luckily he adapted to my fear and only put one instead of two. I followed recuperation instructions 100% and it's healing very well and I'm now back to sport at exactly 4 months post op. The staff were great, (admin, based elsewhere is another matter, do check your appointment the day before!) and it all runs smoothly.The hospital looks clean as well, compared to some overwhelmed London hospitals that I've seen.

4 years ago this hospital was truly exceptional......1 year ago it had gone downhill, but was, on the whole better than most. My wife has just had another major knee surgery there and the place has fallen apart!! The operating staff are fine, and the post-op recovery team were excellent! but get up to the ward...and OMG!! pain-meds missed or left waiting hours over-due......asked 3 different people for a bed-pan....over 2 hours later it finally arrived (obviously too late by that time) .....food virtually inedible...and left on a shelf outside my wifes room when she's on 2 crutches and can't carry anything - she had to BEG one of the cleaners to carry it for her!! the few obviously good nurses are spending so much time trying to explain or TRANSLATE to/from all the foreign nurses that nothing gets done! The NHS is broken and this place highlights everything that is wrong with it!!!
