Was really not expecting this when entering! Really beautifully crafted museum, literally placing you into the history. With current times, I loved the way they implemented safety procedures, such as a flip panel (using feet) to state if you were in a certain building that would be too small to social distance in. Aside from Covid matters, the museum again is wonderful. Loved all the real-life items throughout. You could easily spend hours searching every detail in each build.

Interesting glimpse into Yorkshire's past, with a wide variety of buildings and memorabilia from across the centuries. Very welcoming staff at reception, but we went in mid-February when there were few staff / volunteers on site, meaning there was no interaction in the various buildings, and explanatory signage was somewhat limited. I expect it's more dynamic in the summer, though it was nice not jostling with big crowds. Very pleasant to be able to take my friend's dog around the site (though not enough bins for waste disposal). Sheep and chickens were popular with children. The Harrison collection was an eclectic and engaging mixture of historical items. A nice gift-shop, with lovely adjoining pub and tea rooms. The entrance ticket is valid for a year, and I certainly intend to come back at a busier time.

Very pleasant museum hidden away on the edge of the Yorkshire moors. With over 20 reconstructed buildings there was lots to do and see. There is no food available on site, but you are able to take picnics in with you. You can either go round at a leisurely pace or do a quicker tour as the entry price gives you a years admission to the venue. The lady on the counter was polite and helpful. This is a good place for all ages.

Lovely time had in this pretty village on a drizzly day. It had been over 10 years since we had been to the museum and we took our 7 yr old and 12 yr old. Good variety of buildings and outside areas to explore. A good learning experience for children. Lots of things that can be discussed and talked about. A bonus as well that there are animals too as both boys enjoyed feeding the two pigs. Tickets give you access for a year so good value. No activities the day we visited but we were not expecting any given the covid situation. Plenty to see and do regardless. Volunteers over the years have done an amazing job to set this place up for everyone to enjoy. Craft shops and tea rooms next door also open and great to see people visiting safely.

Easily one of the best museums we have visited! Lots to see and do, we spent around 3 hours here, historic, scenic and beautiful! There's also some chickens, pigs and sheep you can feed for a small fee. We would highly recommend! Loved it ️
