Called to enquire about pre-ordering some basic pastries for a corporate breakfast and was met with a fairly blunt response and he wouldn't help unless I came into the store.

The Artisan Bakery is a special treat, tucked away next door to the Post Office / Library in Headingley. Run by local Baker, Ian, all products are freshly made or stocked each day. The venue is quaint and big enough to stand four or five people (whom are usually queuing out of the door). FYI this isn't a seated restaurant but a takeaway venue. My personal favourite products are the Spelt loaf, flapjacks and the best gingerbread men are easily the best I've tasted (I've heard rumours of a bespoke / larger version that can possibly be made for special occasions). This is a heartfelt business with a communal, family-oriented feel, with customers showing up like firm friends of the family. If you're passing through Leeds and a baking enthusiast, I'd highly recommend visiting.

My son went in here today to politely enquire whether a certain type of bread was still being baked. As soon as he stepped through the door the owner had a go at him for stepping on his mopped floor (the door was open and no indication customers weren’t welcome). He then responded rudely and unkindly to my son’s polite enquiry about whether he baked a certain type of bread. My son was taken aback and upset by the aggressive and rude attitude. My family will be not be using this bakery again.

Highly recommend this place. Delicious cakes and biscuits at super reasonable prices. The coconut slice especially is incredible!
