After several months of looking for a reputable photographer for my son’s model portfolio I found “I want to be a model” in Leeds and gave Matt a call. It was the best decision I have made and from our first conversation Matt has gone above and beyond to be helpful and give excellent advice. We had the photos taken last week at his studio in Lincoln and it was well worth the trip down as Matt made my son feel at ease from the start, gave me peace of mind and the photos are amazing. We cannot thank him enough and I highly recommend his services.

Matt is the real deal, he has so much experience as a model and a photographer that he knows exactly what is required to bring the most out of the aspiring model. Add to that a genuine enthusiasm, obvious integrity and a desire to help... what more could you want! There’s enough advice and honesty in a shoot with Matt to give a real insight into the world of fashion, and whether that is something you might want. His long standing connections with model agencies might even give you a helpful introduction or two, but our experience was that the shots he took were worth the money on their own. Highly recommended.

I am so happy I found Matt. He is such a great professional, focused, knowledgeable, organized, creative and adding to that he is funny and caring too. I totally loved my first real photoshoot experience (had one before that was part of a scam and it was terrible). I loved the fact that Matt totally got me and did not try and put me in a "all size fits all" kind of frame but instead he understood the vibe I wanted to represent in the pictures and allowed my strengths to come forward. Totally recommend and looking forward to working with Matt in the future.

Just done a full day photoshoot in Lincoln, with Matt today! We started at the studio doing head shots and then drove to several different locations within the area having around 10 outfit changes! I must start by saying this was technically my first outdoor ever shoot, so I was very nervous. Matt had some awesome ideas, in which he sent over a mood board of images and I planned the outfits prior to the shoot. I’d heard many great things about Matt, from friends he has photographed for years!! They were so right, what a great FIRST TIME experience. So professional and friendly and funny. Gave me lots of guidance along to way which made me feel more relaxed, like he would sit or stand and physically show you what kind of stance he thought you should start with and then let you do your own thing. I must also add an extra comment I feel is very important. Matt went out of his way to make me feel beyond comfortable. For intenstance even if I was going to slightly move positions on set he would even turn round bless him while you adjusted your outfit etc. It’s the little things you wouldn’t expect a photographer to go out of their way to do, that I noticed which is so respectful. While doing stills, we also did video footage (a little insight of the day) which I really loved doing!!! Would be a pleasure to work with you again credit where it’s due!! Top guy! Great fun. Recommend to Matt Bates to anyone!! Thank you so much!

Myself and my son, attended a Model Open Day not knowing what to expect. My son, who is 6 years old, loves having his photo taken at home but has never experienced professional photos taken in a studio - so I was apprehensive if he would like it or not! As soon as we arrived, Matt and Connor made us feel really welcome and in no time at all my son felt relaxed and confident in front of the camera. Matt directed my son on how to look, smile and stand. He loved every minute of the experience and I loved watching him strike his own poses! My son left the studio feeling like a superstar - such a fantastic day! I would highly recommend Matt and his team for amazing, professional photographs. I was recently introduced to Matt because he was going to help me update my portfolio and put me in touch with a good agency. I have been signed with 2 agencies previously but I wasn't getting the type of work I wanted. When I arrived to do the shoot Matt made me feel at ease and gave good advice.
