Went to the Castle grounds recently and I loved the atmosphere that is currently there, it's all decked out with Christmas light, trees, reindeers and even fake snow section. It looks beautiful and had such a lovely vibe to just walk around.

So pleased we went to see the Castle Christmas light and we cannot believe it was free to do this especially during covid times. The trees and lights were simple but elegant and it was lovely to be at the castle again. Quiet and tranquil, as you had to book in advance it wasn't crowded so easy to socially distance
Great place to visit, informative, kids enjoyed it. Not everthing was available due to covid restrictions. The wall walk is good and has amazing views over Lincoln. We spent around 3 hours here, I doubt you could spend any longer. We had a walk round the surrounding area afterwards, the cathedral is amazing and nice shops, cafés in the area too.
Not the usual type of castle as it has a victorian prison inside the walls which you can visit. It also has a original copy of the magna carta. Lincoln courthouse is also inside the walls which you can't get inside. Nice way to pass 2 or 3 hours and the cathedral is only a couple of hundred metres away, easy to fill the day up visiting both and lunch in between the 2 in one of various places in the close vicinity.
We went to the castle for the Christmas light show. You have to book online before you go. I would recommend a tip if it was part of a night out to see all the Christmas lights in lincoln starting at the station finishing with the castle. Or the other way round. Its not worth travelling to see on its own. If you have mobility issues then give it a miss as you have to enter though the entrance opposite the cathedral then exit though the back down the drawbridge slope then have to go around the outside of the castle to get back. The kids enjoyed it especially the snow machine.
