If you are arriving by car, you can park in the few spaces (about 10) that are available at the beginning of the crossing (Lindisfarne Causeway) near the mainland. Lovely walk between Holy Island and Beal. It takes approximately 1 hour each way (about 2.9 miles from the parking spot to Holy Island). I suggest making the journey 1 hour before lowest tide to give you adequate time to visit the island to return. About 80% of the Pilgrim's Path is firm sand often with shallow water (ankle height); I therefore recommend you walk barefooted. About half way, there is a section that is grassy with mud that can go up to your upper calves. If possible, walk around this area to save you time. There are also seals seen from the path as you look southbound towards Bamburgh Castle as you approach Holy Island.

Bare foot. Just you and open skies.
Amazing! Crossed in mid may and tides were perfect for a Noonday walk! Give yourself a good hour to cross and do it barefoot for the full experience. We saw about 200 seals just flopping about barking away at each other. Well worth the diversion. Make sure you double check the food serving times - everywhere stops serving lunch at 2:00 so be prepared for this.
Great walk on a beautiful day. Shoes off mud squelching between toes. Slippy in places and water in channels not far off knee height but my 8 year-old son managed it with a big grin on his face! n.b. Check the Tide Times if planning a visit.
Amazing experience.
Spiritual so special when the tide comes in
