I tried Capoeira with different teachers and I think Joel really has something special about his teaching style.. he is inclusive, sensitive, attentive, encouraging. He breaks down exercises so that everyone can follow them and feel like they are in the process of learning as opposed to feeling Discouraged and unable to complete the exercises. Joel gives enough attention to all the aspects of Capoeira: History and traditions, music, expression, fun, body flexibility and strength, sense of community... I highly recommend his classes to anyone who might want to try a new activity in a nice and inclusive environment, anyone who wants to grow, both physically and mentally and see how Capoeira can change somebody’s life! :) Axè para Joel e contramestre Xandão!

Joel is good at teaching as he breaks down moves and caters to your individual level. He has patience and explains and demonstrates to simplify what he is teaching. He, himself is a strong, knowledgeable and experienced capoeirista and he has a friendly and caring nature. I would definitely recommend his classes, whatever your level, as they are fun and fulfilling.
