This review is specifically for the skate shop, not the skate park it's attached to. The skate park itself looks clean and well maintained. If you've ever wondered if the stereotype of cynical staff at a skate shop is at all true, look no further! "We don't have washers....What are you expecting? Nobody is gonna sell you a few washers." was the monotone response from the young tattooed man at the counter. What I was expecting was to walk in and buy a small bag of the most common part found on literally every board. Every single board, regardless of size and design has washers of the same size and material on it's trucks, which is why I found the response and general attitude at the BAYSIXTY6 skate shop very weird. So, either they literally don't have washers, and every time they fit a board with new wheels or bearings they are skipping putting these on, or both of the two staff members in the otherwise empty shop felt it was a more important use of their time to continue watching videos on the computer. I actually think it's the latter, which is a shame because this shop would potentially be a great thing for the people who use the skate park, and an important source of revenue to keep the whole place going. When I asked the gent at the skate park reception desk, he told me there was another shop nearby called Halfpipe. Bought 10 for 5p a washer which they put in a small bag for me. This other store, Halfpipe, is literally so close by - 5 mins on foot, that I can't think of a single reason why you wouldn't just go there instead if you need to buy something.
