Staff are helpful - if a bit slow. Be warned, this is Brixton so expect the odd unsavoury character, I've seen more than one poor resident get abused & shouted at over whose turn it is on the wretched computer...

Went with children on Saturday. My 2 year old was crying as we were leaving. A staff member started yelling at him to be quiet and saying to him rude which then caused him to be upset even more. As we got out the door she then started shouting again and arguing with him as if he is a adult. Left very traumatized by her behaviour. Won't be going there again and will be making a complaint.
I'm a dr from malaysia. Came for my exam to uk and stayed at brixton and this library was very close to place I stayed. So one day I went there with my friend. Was studying then all of sudden a lady came pressing for cash.. I ignored and the next thing I knew she flipped my phone. She clearly didn't look like someone who will come to the library to read a book. She smelled soo strong of alcohol probably high on drug as well. When I asked the staff how come no one monitor she simply said .. we can't do much. Pls be careful. I never returned and will never will.
Despite being in a town centre it's not a big library. The computers are scattered all over the place and very poorly maintained with at least 20% not working, and haven't been repaired for months. It needs a refit and better utilisation of the space. However, the staff are always very helpful and very good at asking noisy people (talking on their phones or watching video), to be quiet or leave.
I like this library. Very good study space on the first floor. Toilets could be a bit tidier but otherwise I would recommand!
