Great meal! Ventured down to Darby’s, the local restaurant in the area, for a tasty dinner. Ordered the short rib with courgette side, and chocolate mousse for dessert. The rib was amazing, the glaze was tasty and the mustard accompanied it brilliantly. The courgettes were my favourite- the dressing it came with was savoury and well balanced, my only complaint being that the waitress cleared my plate too quickly as I was about to eat the last few drops. Dessert was good - wasn’t a fan of the Guinness ice cream, but I don’t like Guinness so not a huge surprise there. The salted caramel was the best I’ve had in a long time! Came here end of August 2020. Tasty food Friendly team Great location Lovely interior - Had a book in advance and sit at the bar yet for the whole duration of the meal the place had a lot of space - I personally wouldn’t recommend the special steak on offer. For me it was vastly overpriced for what came out, far too much rolling blubber fat and generally not great when you liken it to proper steak places. Stick instead to other dishes. Would come back but perhaps only for snacks and some drinks.
If you are wanting to impress someone, take them to Darby's. There is a beautiful view of the U.S. Embassy, the Thames, and a lotus pond just outside the restaurant. The decor inside is a brilliant mix of modern industrial vibe mixed with 19th century study with lots of greenery throughout the space that makes the restaurant feel very cozy. The sound panelling on the drop ceiling really maintains the noise level so that you can have a great conversation and hear the music at a reasonable level. The food is all executed perfectly. You can split a myriad of starters, and share a main or have a grill item. Any selection of the starters is fantastic. I personally recommend getting a round or two of oysters for the table and several orders of arancini (though they remind me more of Dutch bitterballen). The cocktails that we tried were perfection, and the cocktails we didnt try, we really want to. The Irish coffee they make is a splendid brunch pick-me-up and the negroni is the perfect aperitif. The old fashioned and the boulevardier are high on my list to try. Overall an excellent experience. I will be back, and I hope you are just as impressed as I was with your experience.
Quality produce, well made food, excellent staff, service when you want it, relaxed atmosphere, impressive decor and well managed. This is a very good restaurant.
We visited on a bank holiday Sunday and the venue/atmosphere and food was all spot on. I would happily go as far as saying it was the best roast I have ever had in London and that is a bold statement from me. We were made to feel very welcome, not rushed and spent 3 hrs enjoying our lunch. I would highly recommend and will be revisiting.
