Very peaceful memorial to the fallen, in the lovely Central Park. Plenty of benches to sit and relax. Seems to be a congregation area for the local alcoholics..

Prominently located at the main entrance to the park and afforded a purposed surround. The Grade II Listed Art Deco-ish memorial (erected 1921) an enduring testament to the local men who “fell” during the course of the war. The imposing and elaborate stone cenotaph, typical of its time, features bronze wreaths and large plaques listing the 1824* names - an astonishing and unfathomable count. Somber, poignant and respectfully maintained. * Historic England.
Memorial is a kind of lesson, learning, teaching and respect. Thanks for seeing.
