Long before world war 1 & 2, Great Britain and France joined forces to beat Russia and this monument is to celebrate that victory. This was the war that became the reason why Alaska is now US territory and gave Russia in return its most famous writer Leo Tolstoy. And the best thing to come out of the worst thing in the world was of course the grandmother of all nurses Florence Nightingale.

Absolutely lovely tree and lights take the kids up there and enjoy the walk and closed shop window displays
This war memorial commemorates the Allied victory in the Crimean War. Just above the pedestal stands three guardsmen representing the Grenadiers, Scots and the Coldstream Guards. Above the three Guardsmen stands the allegorical figure of Victory, her arms outstretched presenting the laurel leaves of victory. A truly magnificent memorial to one of the hardest war Britain has ever fought.
