Having witnessed the post operative experience of a number of people - different practice - I was nervous about having my hip replaced. I shouldn’t have been. The before, during and after experience with Giles Stafford has been top drawer in all respects. Cannot praise him and his team highly enough.

5 stars is not enough to represent the expertise, charm and amazing results i have had with a full double hip replacement from Giles Stafford. In short he is SIMPLY THE BEST!!!

A fantastic surgeon whose advice from first assessment through to surgery and post operative care was exceptional, clear and reassuring. In particular the post op pain management protocol was amazing and the outcome has been even better than expected. The whole team played their part too. Thank you.

A brilliant experience. Giles and his team have been instrumental in helping my hips to full recovery. Having suffered from a labral tear on both of my hips I was in quite a lot of pain, which was starting to progress and become worse. Giles arranged for me to have numerous scans and tests, all of which were promptly arranged to suit my work schedule. On receipt of the diagnosis, Giles explained what a hip arthroscopy entailed and gave me a copy of his “Helpful Hip” guide to give me a deeper insight into the procedure. He thoroughly explained the findings of my CT and MRI scan and was more than happy to answer my questions and concerns. Prior to this injury, I had never undergone surgery, therefore I was rather apprehensive about having two surgeries within the space of a few months. Once again, Giles provided his reassurance and got the ball rolling. The first hip arthroscopy went incredibly well, so much so I had the second procedure carried out on the other hip a month later. Presently, I am roughly 8 months into my recovery programme, and I have made an incredible amount of progress. Now, I am back on my bike, exercising and walking for miles – it feels great. Giles is confident, has a great demeanour, exceptional bedside manner and most importantly – he cares. He and his team have been with me throughout my road to recovery – they’re always happy to assist. I am incredibly grateful to Giles for helping these once were miserable hips – they’re happy now. I would happily recommend those with troubled hips to see Giles. A big thanks to all!

Fantastic Surgeon and genuinely friendly man, so refreshing to discuss your issues without feeling rushed out of the door, we talked about my case at length amongst other things. Very confident but realistic in what to expect. Results so far have been above and beyond. Explained everything he had done with images from the scope. Having had hip problems for 15 years and seeing so many specialist, I have leaned that seeing a specialist is not good enough, you have to see the top specialist and that is Mr Stafford. Could not recommend more highly

If there were SIX stars - then Giles and his whole team (Sam, Caroline and Sean to name but a few) would get this and more. I had 'interviewed' several surgeons prior as I had a 40 year precondition with metalwork in place and a goal to be a mountain leader when recovered. I found that Giles and team took my wishes on board, expanded on those and came up with a great plan for a total hip replacement through to rehab. There was confidence, initiative and openess from the whole team that made the whole operation a resounding success and well above expectations so far in recovery mode.

I was lucky enough to be referred to Sport Hip London by my physio after suffering with sharp hip pain for 18-months. After putting it off for some time, I finally decided to book a consultation. The whole process from the initial consultation through to surgery and recovery has been completely faultless. I was quite anxious about the hip arthroscopy surgery having read lots of conflicting and confusing information online. My concerns were alleviated by the very thorough process that was followed to diagnose the root cause of the pain (labral tear) and underlying issue (FAI). There was absolutely no pressure to have the surgery but after detailed discussions with Mr Stafford regarding the potential benefits versus the risks I decided to go ahead. Being in my early thirties, this was the first time having surgery under general anaesthetic and the team at the Wellington Hospital were all super professional. It couldn't have gone more smoothly and I was discharged on crutches the same day. Six months on, I'm back playing tennis, 5-aside football and going to the gym. I've also felt confident enough to book a hiking holiday in Patagonia with my wife. At this stage I would say there's a 90% improvement in my hip pain and movement. I was also informed that there may be further improvements up to 18-months post surgery if I stay on top of the physio. In summary, I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Thanks to everyone involved, especially Mr Stafford!
