I just got my VHF Cert. Nomad Sailing club were amazing in terms of preparing me for the exams. I highly recommend Nomad sailing club for getting your VHF cert. The structure of the course was great. We had theory and practise sessions. It was great balance between theory and practise. The course and the instructor Daniel are great.
Make the most of Lockdown. Nomad’s support for the offshore/yachtmaster theory was brilliant – there was always going to be some things that needed extra explanation and Jim was on hand for that, and with a very quick turnaround. I had only recently competed the day skipper theory with Nomad and I thought I’d do something useful during lockdown, so I took the next level of theory online. It proved a good idea. It wasn’t as big a jump as I feared and I was able to build on the day skipper theory - and it uses the same training charts and almanac. Due to the lockdown there were few external distractions to completing the course quickly. I still have to do my day skipper practical, and I’ll probably never advance to coastal skipper, but there’s no harm in having more theoretical knowledge than strictly necessary.
Very well run course. Completed the evening course near Southwark. Our instructors Jim and Lou were always ready to help answer questions before and after the lessons and made each evening an enjoyable and informative experience. Greatly helped me when doing the practical element of Day Skipper. Highly recommend.
