People should stop complaining, these very professionals have family of their own. So plz lay off, as its not their fault you came to them in the first place. Plz Love those who are looking out for you. No need for haters, only NHS lovers allowed. Xx

Just awful. Was sectioned after an attempt and admitted to the Virginia Wolff unit. While I was there, I was lunged at, threatened and spat at by three different patients. After one such incident, I was discharged. Not because I was safe to return to the community, but because I was unsafe in the unit. While on the unit, there's no individual therapy, which is understandable, a lot of people there are too ill to engage, but group and occupational therapy, which is supposed to happen twice a day on the schedule, often does not happen at all. I received no help, felt unsafe during my whole stay and don't understand how anybody is supposed to improve in an unhealthy environment with no external care. To clarify: The vast majority of the staff were wonderful, especially the nurses. If they were not available, it was often because they were understaffed and overworked, I am not criticising individuals here, just the organisation and the Ladywell unit as a whole. There was not a single day when the ward was up to the minimum staffing requirements.

Although my stay at the Ladywell Unit - Wharton Ward was short. This was my first in patient experience, which was as comfortable as it good be in the circumstances. I found all the staff approachable, helpful and caring. I felt they offered plenty of therapeutic activities for those who wanted to participate. I felt the only thing letting the ward down was that it needed a bit of a makeover. To my surprise when I went back to the ward as an out patient they had the decorators in painting the ward. My only suggestion would be to pherhaps at some colour to the walls. It has been researched that some colours do psychologically help individuals mood. Thanks again to all the staff for making my stay as comfortable as possible in what can be quite a stressful environment at times.

I was at lewisham psychiatric unit tonight with my mother and I can truly say I cannot fault them . The service and all the staff right down to the porters was excellent. We would not have had the same service in a private hospital. They did every test on her plus MRI scan . I can not fault the NHS for the service we got . Thank you to all the staff . They are amazing. X

Local mental health unit that offers inpatient and outpatient care. The unit has had various updates in the last year including repainting and new windows. Some staff are not very caring or considerate of patients. Most of the facilities are fairly run down.
