The View Magazine is a print magazine, a website, and a campaigner that holds events concerning policy for and about the 4000 women in UK prisons, and those out on license. Among other things, we work hard to nurture creativity and encourage them to own their pasts, narrate their stories and create better futures though art and writing. Our first issue of The View magazine is out now, and you can subscribe, here: https://theviewmag.org.uk/shop-%2F-subscribe-1 and our website is also live, here: www.theviewmag.org.uk Our first live event will be in the Autumn at the House of Lords. It’ll host campaigners, politicians, journalists, and other special guests including the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women and Girls. We always need productive volunteers and Bright sparks, if you want to know more about the event or how you can get involved - just ask. Currently, our main focus is on keeping the women in prison alive and healthy, especially in the midst of COVID lockdown. We’re working on Issue 2 right now, and that’ll be out June 1st. The View showcases the creative work of women in prison - visual arts, prose and poetry. Creativity is a proven means of improving mental health and reducing reoffending. Not only that - we pay them for their work. This pay goes some way towards helping these women rebuild their lives on their release. Got a story for us?
