This is Britain's only Preserved Double Track Railway. All the buildings are original to the railway. The volunteers who run & work on the railway are all professional and knowledgeable about the railway and it's history. No matter how old you are you will certainly enjoy a visit to the GCR to see history in action & to travel on one of its many trains.

u003e Please like helpful reviews \u003c Great day out for all the family. Get on and off wherever you like with lovely tea rooms for refreshments. Miniature railway at Rothley is great. You can even book the dining train for a special experience.

Great experience with welcoming staff and friendly atmosphere. Shortened ride as they keep everyone COVID safe but that was clearly explained. Enjoyed having a compartment to ourselves. Our dog was made a fuss of, which she enjoyed. Extra attractions at Quorn were appreciated. Just watch out for the cafe hours as we missed being able to order food by 10 minutes! Worth a check if you are planning to eat later.

Just had lunch on the Christmas special. I'll start with the disappointments first, after all there's always something. The dining car was not very warm so if you feel the cold wrap up. The only other thing is they don't have enough track as I wish the journey was longer. On the plus side. The station itself is a joy to behold cant have been changed since the fifties ir sixties. Likewise the trains and carriages, wonderful. The restaurant cars are in wonderful condition. The chairs comfortable and although the tables aren't large they serve very nicely. The staff were super efficient, smartly turned out and very friendly. The tables looked great and to top it off it was an excellent lunch. Not easy to achieve on a train of such an age. Very well done to all concerned.

Absolutely brilliant day out and very good value. Can't fault it even the staff were enthusiastic and helpful and everywhere was clean and you can tell the care that has been taken to give everyone a good day out. Pullman dining experience was excellent and good value and even the drink prices were reasonable. I was worried about parking but there is plenty along the road out the front. I will definitely be back to visit and to eat dinner on the train again.

We popped in after visiting archery shop across road. Little did we know we would almost step back in time. Wonderful looking place that even got the interest of my teenage daughter...not easy to get a teenager to look up from their phone. We plan to go back for a trip on trains next time
