Joined this school for sixth form. I have come from being self conscious, shy and miserable to being confident and much happier. The people in my year group, and the staff, accepted me for who I am. This school really focuses on the individual's needs. Extracurriculars are great and you can still mix with people from the high and the grammar school. So glad I chose to come here! :)

sadly we had to withdraw my daughter from the school after 7 months as we were given an ultimatum by the head teacher. 3 months into her new school she was identified as having SEN needs by the school SENCO. Additional support and assessments were put into place by the new school to ensure inclusion and best endeavours were met. I wish that Amherst could have provided this for her while she was there instead of their judgemental and dismissive approach taken by the head.
Both my girls have enjoyed their time at Amherst. The school has provided them both with great opportunities both educationally and extra curricular. Through their experiences they have both grown into confident young women.
The education philosophy is well thought through, supporting the individual child and their development, not just focussing upon results. There are extensive extra curricular opportunities. The pastoral support to pupil and family has been careful and incredibly considerate. All round a very impressive school.
The school is focussed on developing the whole child. A very nurturing environment where pastoral care is as important as academic achievement. An excellent range of extra curricular activities support by the dedicated staff.
