A magnificent church with a very well maintained graveyard in its grounds, which contains the grave of Seamus Heaney. The Church itself is magnificent, a credit to the Parish. It is spotlessly clean. It is bright and spacious.

Beautiful church and cemetery this is where Seamus heany is buried , also Frances hughes Born in Bellaghy, South Derry, on 28 February 1956, Francis was once described by the British authorities as “the most wanted man” in the North of Ireland – a telling indication of his effectiveness as a guerrilla fighter against enemy forces in his native terrain. Francis was seriously wounded during the exchange and was captured in a follow-up search of the area. He received a life sentence in February 1980. Francis Hughes died on 12 May 1981 after 59 days on hunger strike... also Dominic mcglinchy who On 10 February 1994, Dominic was making a call from a phone box when two men got out of a vehicle and shot him 14 times. No one has been charged with his killing and it is not known who carried out the assassination or why.also his wife his son and daughter are buried here also Thomas McElwee was an Irish republican who participated in the 1981 hunger strike and a volunteer in the Provisional Irish Republican Army. Really well maintained graveyards, as there is two. The chapel is nice and comforting, with friendly locals willing to help you if you're looking to visit the world famous author and poet, Seamus Heaney or the two Hunger-Striker's from 1981 that died in the H-Blocks of Long Kesh, Francis Hughes and Thomas McElwee respectively.
