I think the staff who are to lose their jobs may be excused some of their discontent. This was a profitable company and useful local resource. Its takeover by Rutland- who loaded it with debt at a rapacious interest rate is a disgrace to modern capitalism. I always thought well of this branch.

Great selection of electrical tools and equipment for indoor/outdoor, business and hobby this is a fantastic store. Large car park outside and next to merry hill and its bus station for easy accessibility
Maplin have some very interesting electronics and the odd great deal ...always worth a browse.
Definitely has a good selection and the staff seems fairly knowledgeable if you have a question. Prices are a little high so I tend to only shop here if I need something immediately.
This the first time I have put a review on the internet in may life . But I am really angry about the whole experience so I decided to share it We bought security camaras and the installation package for almost 800 all together !! SHOP Although the guys in the shop were all very pleasant they forgot to ask for my telephone number so they had to come to our house to ask for it to book for the installation , they gave us the wrong information about they installation company and I ask them to have the camaras to be delivered at the shop . DELIVERY After 4-5 days of not hearing anything I discover that 400 pounds camaras are left in the street in a box beside my rubbish bin. I had to come out of work to collect then . INSTALATION; A single person came to do the installation, instead listening ,it was all problems, ,we had to put the monitor where he wanted ,I had to go shopping for things I was not told in the shop that I need it, My husband had to come home from work to drill a whole in the wall because the installation guy was not happy to do it, That guy was just wanting to go home for lunch , very unprofessional. They finally sent another person a wk later sorting everything out I WOULD NOT RECOMEND ALL THE INSTALATIION TO ANYBODY. And Mapling had not even offered a sorry and a small voucher to compensated all this Kaos They haven't received a sorry
It appears Maplin's staff's attitude has gone really down hill since the store being notified to close down. One member of staff was very rude, but then I guess he couldn't less now that he is losing his job.
