The restaurant had its "grand" opening this weekend, so all food was 50% off. We just moved to Reading from Chicago, so we were looks for good Mexican food and figured we'd give it a try. Will not be repeat customers. 1. It took a good 10-15 minutes for anyone to take our drink/appetizer order. 2. We knew we were in for a treat when the family next to us didn't even receive one of the meals they ordered. And to top it off, when they received the check the meal they didn't even get was still on there. 3. The food and drinks are severely overpriced. Our two drinks cost more than an entire bottle of wine that we got at dinner the night before. The fajitas were 17.75 and the tortillas were stale around the edges. Also, when we received the bill, the fajitas were on the bill at 22.25 instead of the 17.75 states on the menu. Aside from the stale tortillas, the food was actually pretty good, but definitely not worth the prices they were charging. I'd be surprised if Maracas is still open in 6 months.

We are literally just settling up now. The service was friendly, the portions were huge and the food was delicious. They had a card machine fault. It kept disconnecting but not really their fault. They were very apologetic about the issue though. Their cocktails are really good and they have 2 4 1 cocktails from 4 to 7 pm every day. All in all, topped off with the shot of tequila on the house we received at the end of the meal, we're sure to come back again and again!
Decent food and generous portions but the staff really spoiled the experience. The waiter was so weird and kept hovering around making jokes about helping us eat our food and about my friend's outfit (which was totally normal). He could hardly understand us and when we asked how his day was going he kept sighing dramatically and pretending to cry. Then when the bill came he kept joking about charging us more but then took it way too far when he actually entered 160 on the chip and pin machine and gave it to my friend without telling her. Luckily she spotted it and he laughed it off but it was so rude. Really made the whole experience uncomfortable.
Went as a family of four - two teenagers! Three vegetarians one meaty! Apart from when we have gone to a purely vegetarian restaurant I cannot remember when we have had so much choice, it was great. Veggie sharing platter to start was delicious with loads of variety, the mushrooms were incredible. Mains were delicious, varied in taste and spiciness, and generous portions even filled up a 16 year old. Didn't think we would manage a pudding but shared a churros , so yummy. All food was freshly cooked and served with a smile, the staff were friendly and had a sense of humour, there was time to sit and take time over courses as well as a "cooking" wait before courses which meant food arrived hot. Will definitely be going again and recommending to friends and family especially those who are fellow veggies!
Fairly new place in Reading, and certainly fresh and vibrant decor. Wide range of choice. Good service, good food.
I read all reviews all the moaners it's a gr8 place high energy unique it's not a chain therefore yes u do have to wait which is a good thing u r out for an experienced evening. 2 4 1 cocktails good 4.95 large vino 7.50 cocktail normal menu huge choice portions big a give it money
My family and I visited the resturants at 6pm last Saturday evening. I was surprised to find the floor and toilets in particular were filthy dirty despite it being so quite and 6 members of staff on shift. My 3 year old daughter refused to use the toilet so I politely informed our waiter that the toilets needed some attention and he assured me he would make sure they were tended to. Staff continued to stand around gossiping and the toilets raimained uncleaned for the duration of our visit. The food was fine and the waiters were very nice and professional. I can't help but question the hygiene standard of the kitchen and this puts me off revisiting in future.
Great food , great service!! Well worth a visit .
