It's always nice to find a really interesting museum. Maritime museum in Lancaster ticks that box. The exhibits are varied but all revolve around the central theme of maritime activities around Morecambe Bay and the surrounding area. That local focus is the key to it's success. There are a few hands on activities for the kids (knot tying, dressing up, puzzles etc) and on certain days there are staff led craft activities. It's only a short walk from the city centre so well worth a visit.

Lovely museum lots to see. Great staff who are friendly . Small cafe. You can park on the side of the road for free next to the river estuary. My kids liked doing the children's trails. You can dress up and sit in a picturee frame ..I did- at 49 years old and I had fun lol
Wow a hidden gem, the staff were so helpful. The lady in the cafe came into the film room to ask if we wanted tea or coffee, now that is how to up sell. Totally Disability Friendly with access to almost everything. My Grandchildren loved the place as did i
The museum is a piece of Georgian history highlighting the peak of the local shipping industry over two hundred years ago. Activity sheets for children, a lift to all floors, a little cafe and a view of the river Lune. It’s the farthest heritage venue in Lancaster to get to, but it’s a nice walk to get there and it’s the only one with disabled access and a cafe.
Very informative, kids lived it staff were very friendly and helpful had a really good time bigger than expected
Really great and informative museum in Lancaster that I'd never been to before. Great place for a wander around and you learn a lot about the history of the city.
Enjoyable to look around although the displays don't vary much over the years. Always pleasant to visit though and some good temporary exhibitions. Free admission for locals.
The staff at the front desk here (Stef? followed by a guy later in the afternoon) were both amongst the friendliest and most helpful museum staff I've ever come across.
