Great place to have a full English breakfast at a bargain price! Just popped down to The Bear in Melksham. Till 11th Nov '20 you can enjoy a full English breakfast and unlimited coffee for 4 till 11.30 am, Mon-Wed! Food was nice, coffee good, I surfed using their Wi-Fi, what's not to like? I went about 10.30am, was really quiet, they are very covid aware and you need to scan via an app your details for track and trace. Really enjoyable brekkie!

Went to the Bear and had beef madras with chips. For a cheap curry and a pint it was top notch! Staff were friendly and trying their best considering all the circumstances, even the guys in the kitchen seemed really happy. Clean pub, bargain food, nice staff and loads of variety on drinks. If you follow the guidelines and rules, and appreciate how hard the staff work then you're onto a winner!

Nice atmosphere, good service and wide selection of Ale, beer & cider. Food could be better, however nice experience. Lots of seating area and a nice beer garden for summer months. Main gates to the beer garden are often shut after 4pm so entrance to the garden is via the main pub door. No parking near by although depending on length of visit you could utilise the Sainsbury’s car park behind.

Hilarious, eat out to help out a bit too successful for Weatherspoons in Melksham (The Bear) we arrive about 1845, found a table no problem, cleaned said table ourselves (always do). Chose our food and I headed to the bar to order, as if you use the app for a mixed grill you can't say how you want your meat cooked. At the bar there was a sign up saying they'd run out of chips, ok so mash or jacket potato is fine. I was second in line, by the time I ordered they'd run out of chips, any sort of steak, gammon, fish, burgers, onion rings and goodness knows what else ...but they did have 1buttermilk burger(all good there) jacket potato with tuna and salad, and I chose the breast of chicken with ribs combo with salad to replace the onion rings. And the drinks weren't a problem. Food arrived promptly and was good. Staff were lovely and apologetic, not their fault and no harm done. However there is a huge Sainsbury's 100m away so couldn't someone have popped next door to get some chips and onion rings and maybe a bit of frozen fish or something? However value for money, and overall quality of the meals we had cannot be faulted!!

Gent toilets desperately need renovation! We popped in to spoons for a drink or two, all very nice! I read the latest Spoons magazine and they had a feature on their award winning Loo’s which looked incredible! I then had to until use the W/C which is located upstairs, well I was shocked to see how bad and tired this room was! Might have been nice when first fitted out many years ago but how bad are they now! The flooring is worn and old, the vinyl is coming away from the walls, hate to think of the germs infesting the floor. The taps are worn out and chrome ruined by chemicals. The basins are cracked, the list goes on.... ! Come on Spoons, get your act together with new renovations to the Melksham establishment please!
