It's a very nice historical abbey in the Scottish borders town of Melrose. There's some lovely architecture and a museum, has links to Robert the Bruce , who always said his heart belongs to Melrose, and now it is where his heart is said to be buried. Grab an audio tour it gives you an amazing insight into the history of the abbey and the area

Stunning place to be in the must list of places to visit. The abbey is huge and very impressive. The museum worth a visit, not just for the columns and the decorative elements, also there is an interesting collection of tiles, as well as a piece of glasses. There are toilets and one picnic table.

The abbey is known for its many carved decorative details, including likenesses of saints, dragons, gargoyles and plants.

Beautiful Abbey, fairly intact considering! Melrose is a very sweet pretty little town too, surrounded by hills.

A great day out. The Abbey is beautiful as are the grounds. The adjoining museum is also worth a visit. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Covid measures are in place and pre-booking is required. Very cool to scan QR codes and be taken back in time. We are members of Historic Scotland which I would highly advise you join as the savings you can make are substantial. Free entry into all their buildings plus 20% off in the shop.

Stunning place to visit! The ruins were breathtaking and it was nice to be able to wander around. A part of the Historic Scotland pass.

Great site in the heart of the town, next to parking, large grounds with audio guide, story boards. Split into two parts by a walled road, there is a gate to get through to the museum and the rest of the site, be sure to visit the museum as it has lots of exhibits and more interesting information about the area. Go up the tower for the view too, it’s not too high but gives a good view all around.
