Good for kids
Yes the central area is a bit lacking but the people describing it as nothing but a few picnic benches have obviously totally missed the lovely path running alongside the rivers Wheelock and Dane. There is so much wildlife down there. I’ve been many times and seen treecreepers, grey wagtails, songthrushes, robins that almost come right up to you, and butterflies that personally I haven’t seen anywhere else in Cheshire. If you go in Winter, the died-back vegetation gives you an unobstructed view of the river in many places. The paths are pretty good and not really muddy. All in all it’s a lot better than what it used to be which was a landfill site, and surely the fact that there are lots of nettles etc in places means it’s good for wildlife, even if some people don’t find it aesthetically pleasing. There is also an orchard on the site which doesn’t seem to be much attended to anymore. Anyway, it means you can grab an apple if the timing’s right. Not a place to go for a day out but good to spend an hour wandering round if you’re into nature or want somewhere new to walk the dog.

Just a nice place to walk.
Yes nice country park .
Walked the dog to find it's more like a few picnic benches by the cut...
