My wife is disabled having difficulty walking anywhere, but any distance is a real problem; uneven ground is a no, no. We intend to visit during the Olympics will there be any parking for the disabled? Please let me know. So we decided to hold the event only in Olympic years. If enough people want it we will do it. If you want to go gliding this is the club to visit. Our group of four booked a five day gliding course. We all had some prior experience of gliding. All four of us achieved solo standard during the course. What a range of club gliders – during my 5 days there I flew the ASK13, the ASK8, the ASK23 and the Discus. The course instructors were Dave Crowson and Mark Sanders; both very good pilots and extremely enthusiastic instructors. They are both gifted instructors who have the rare ability to give first rate instruction whilst making each student very relaxed therefore ensuring excellent progress. Both Dave and Mark worked tirelessly with most of our days extending to the early evening hours. As always the emphasis is on safety, then student progress and finally to ensure the maximum enjoyment is had by all. Ridge running below the top of the ridge, hugging the contours of the ground is an experience you will never forget!! Dave’s partner Helen made us all most welcome and provided some excellent meals for all of us. Our thanks also to Helen for all her hard work. The Long Mynd is a beautiful part of the UK with extensive scenery that further adds to the enjoyment. If you like beer then the club always keeps draft ale from the Three Tuns brewery at very competitive prices. All in all a first rate experience which also offers very good value for money. You may be somebody who has never tried gliding or you may have some experience – whatever, I can thoroughly recommend this gliding club. My Son and I will be going up again for a few days before the end of Summer.

The Midland Gliding club, airport and facilities are easy to find, but be warned the access track up to the club house is a challenge its narrow and steep, there is an alternate route through Long Mynd which is not recommended because of the narrow roads.
