Lovely little place for a picnic or family trip. Not exactly a hard or long walk to reach the steps themselves and very picturesque on the way. There are two ways to the bottom. Going down the steps themselves or the path that circles down to the bottom. I would recommend doing both as there are some lovely odd rocks on the path way down. Can you go down the steps without touching the sides? Well I don't belive you could fire a gun down there without touching the sides. But if you can, word is, you'll be granted a wish. Legends and myths come from somewhere people.

Lovely walk, some steep bits but a good walk. Kid and dog friendly. Parking can be tricky, don't follow Google maps if you are in a car and expect to park there! We parked in a lay bay further down and walked however not sure that's the official answer!

On a beautiful day like today fantastic day out for the family and friends. Few sandwiches and drinks and had a lovely day out . ( Took all rubbish home) stopped at spar milnthorpe for icecream on our way home. Round to arnside for another enjoyable drive home quiet the exercise for the day. Kids loved exploring everywhere

Nice walk up through woodland to fairy steps. Once at steps would recommend walking round to bottom and climbing up, very narrow and steep (20 steps approx)

Were the actual Fairy Steps worth the walk? Honestly, no. The walk itself is good, the views of Arnside are fabulous and the fact The Wheatsheaf in Beetham is at one end of the walk make up for the fairly uninspiring actual steps - don't go there expecting a Disneyland experience, some of these photos on here are heavily enhanced.
