We have visited Dunster and the castle many times before but for some reason we have never made it to the Dunster by candlelight event. What a wonderful evening, just the ticket to get you in the Christmas spirit! The castle is illuminated outside and dressed for Christmas inside and there were children singing carols. The castle is a National Trust property with ample parking. There is special park and rides services laid on for this event, please check the website for details.

We love Dunster by Candlelight. For us it signals the beginning of Christmas, well worth a visit if you are a local or a visitor. A medieval village by as close to candlelight as is possible nowadays, what's not to like.
Best place for fish and chips! The waiter was very helpful and attentive and the food...wow....we had the catch of that morning. It was so light and the batter was light and crisp. The chips couldn't be beaten either. The kids were very happy with their activity bag and their portion sizes were spot on for a 4 and 7 year old. Will come again!
Well worth visiting if you are in the area for one of the two days itctsjes place. Good coach service from Minehead sea front to the village. Plenty of places to eat while there. Street entertainment and shops to visit while waiting for the candle or torch parade.
Enjoyed it very much. But disappointed that many of the candles weren't lit.
