Cheap parking for adventures on Dartmoor. Be sure to support the local businesses, passing trade keeps this little village on the map, and keeps costs down for Moor users. I parked overnight here as it's fairly open, and visible to the locals so felt secure to leave car unattended while I camped out a few miles away on foot.

Dropped in here yesterday. Due to Covid the exhibition centre is closed but, we had a great welcome from the staff on duty. The books on offer are really worth looking at, we bought a local photographers guide to Dartmoor and her book about all the Tors in the park. Well worth a visit.

Even in the snow this location is well adapted. Open toilets, lots of walks and lovely views.

Take a map. You can see lots from the road on the way up to Princetown. There is so much history here and there is so much to see on some of the circular walks. A map is advised and good walking boots/ shoes but we did it in trainers and in the height of summer and was lucky only to find one marginally boggy area. A lovely aquaduct going down with an impressive constant flow of water! We said the next walk we'd like to climb up and see where it's all coming from!!we were blessed with good weather on this occasion but the weather can turn so quickly up here so make sure you're prepared for whatever it might throw at you. It's a wonderful place to have a walk with family!!
