Lock Keeper was a diamond,, quick safe passage
Cromwell lock is a nice stopping off area along the river walk, the weir is spectacular and there is always lots of bird life. Facilities include parking, toilets and benches
Took my partner here for the first time, very peaceful and relaxing, also quite moving, seeing the memorial from the tragic accident in 1975.
We walked here from North Musham on a lovely sunny day. The lock area itself was very unkempt. The island area scruffy and garden area very overgrown. Seats bearly suitable to sit on, in what is a lovely area of the river. The Memorial Stone for the tragic accident on the weir was again untendended and full of weeds. Is there nobody at the keepers lock house that could at least tidy this area up. Having seen photos from 2yrs ago and how immaculate it was then it is a shame it has been left to be in this state now. There are lots of water birds to watch ie cormorant, swans ,herons and geese, so a shame the lock area lets it down.
Very peaceful great walk by river
Lovely spot along the Trent. Marks the point at which the Trent stops being tidal I believe
Lock keeper very helpful
