I started coming to The Keep in 1957 at the age of 11 to do my Trainspotting from the top! Since that day I have become a Newcastle historian now aged 75 and still learning more. It only cost 6d to go in then but I still visit this marvelous building every time I come to Newcastle. I recommend this to any visitor to the city!

Surprising! I was expecting something less from this castle but when I actually visited it was amazing and historic. The history behind this castle is interesting and captivating. The castle walls still going strong. It really was a good experience.
Surprisingly, Newcastle Castle was a very nice visit and albeit the castle is small compared to other castles and the lack of castle grounds and gardens etc, it was still worth the visit. There is much to see in a small area and the surrounding area is just as nice too. The city centre is literally a few minutes walk and the quayside is again a minute or two away.
A Newcastle must do. It is very good value for money, your ticket includes entry to 2 buildings; the castle keep and the gatehouse. You can easily spend an hour here and the top of the castle has some stunning views of Newcastle. There is lots of facts and information, all of which is very intersting. The gatehouse also features a giftshop and an exhibition about the surrounding area.
Fine. Could really do with some more thought regarding how new visitors experience the castle for the first time. Seems like the view is relied on too much and the history is weakly presented, especially in the old part of the castle. The audio guide for instance doesn't have an obvious flow, and it is very easy to miss points. Still worth a visit, needs work.
A castle that gives an amazing view over the city. Beautiful castle, like the whole city. Newcastle is a city that always takes your breath away, and the castle is just one more piece in this wonderful city.
Lots of information around the castle if it's history. Really friendly and helpful staff. And in the current situation social distances and sanitizer stations around the castle. With amazing view of the city from the top.
Beautiful castle with incredible views. Very well set up and safe with thoughtful and effective covid measures. Wonderful and enthusiastic staff. Well worth a visit
