Tried Big Mussel today for the first time and we were not disappointed. The menu had a huge range of seafood options. Scallop starter was delicious. Luxury seafood linguine and classic mussels were also great. Loved the large portions! Service was excellent and we would definitely return. Has to be one of the best restaurants for seafood in Newcastle!

Me and my husband have been a few times as I totally love seafood. I always get the seafood platter for one and always thoroughly enjoy it. The 5 stars is for the food alone as we cannot fault that. This time when we went we noticed a service charge on the bill of 6.30. When I asked the waitress what the 6.30 was for she said, oh, its just a service charge. She then said I can take it off if you want. I told her to leave it as we would normally leave a tip (probably not as much). Now, i was always led to believe you have a nice meal, you tip. Or in some places they say if your paying by card, if you would like to leave a tip key in how much. The fact they have just put it on your bill to me was bare faced cheek. They should tell you there is a 10% service charge before you order so you can make the decision to pay it or not. Come on management sort it out. Give excellent service and food and receive a tip, dont just take it anyway.
Not the greatest mussel house experience I've had. Food was only satisfactory. But lovely staff and enjoyable experience overall. Would definitely go again and wouldnt pass up the opportunity to either.
Best fish and chips in town! Recommended to try!
