A nice kennels, always had the dogs best health and life at heart. Even when dealing with difficult people, it was always the dogs came first. A shame it is now closed due to the passing of both the owners.

Right so I rehomed my lovely dog just over a month ago now and easily best decision I ever made. The dog was healthy apart from the Kennel Cough and a happy boy who now has his forever home. When speaking to the staff all were very helpful but found the older staff member to be quite abrupt and not very helpful. I rang the day before to ask what food he had been eating to be told she don't know and will find out. I never did get told. The information i was provided about my new dog was very false in my opinion. I was told hes great with people, dogs and cats. 2 of these were false. He is petrified of other dogs and cats he just chases and barks at. You know typical dog stuff for a dog around cats. So a word of warning if you are rehoming from this place please take everything said with a pinch of salt as it may not be true at all. As for the kennels i went with 2 friends and they both walked out to how depressing the place was. Untidy, dirty and the dogs look like they get little attention from the staff. The two younger boys were fantastic and as helpful as could be with the rehoming process. Overall not the best place i seen when looking to rehome a dog but out of the dirt i found the shiniest gem i could find. Easily my best friend after a month and many more to come.

I was trying to adopt a dog. I call them and explained I have a 4 months old baby but I wanted to raise him around dogs, so I was calling despite the criteria of children above 5 years old. The woman was quite rude over the phone and just said my baby was “far too young” and that the dog was stray. I asked if the dog was aggressive, she said no and got rid of me quickly. I have experience working in shelter and rescuing stray dogs from awful situations and they just need love. The rest is adaptable. I said this and other things on their fb page and some people were telling similar stories. That’s when they disrespectfully deleted my comment. I’m highly disappointed with this. It’s a place that you would believe to be full of good people, since they work with animals. I want my child to learn how to respect nature since early stages. The excess of criteria is keeping dogs from being adopted. Not all stories will end up the same and some families should have a chance.

My friends dog ran away and was found half a mile from home.as it was after 5pm the warden took it 30 miles away to this kennel because in his words it was \out of hrs for us to make payment for him coming out\. Dog went to this kennel at 6.30pm friday and we collected her at 10am saturday. We were told we had to pay for 2 days stay as she came in friday and left Saturday. But she was only there for 15 hours. My friend who's dog it was is 90 years old and I tried to reason with them that the dog should never have even been brought there in the first place as it had a collar on with I'd tag phone number and is chipped. But they insisted he had to pay for 2 days . Absolutely disgusting robbing a 90 year old man of nearly 120.he was in tears over this whole scenario. Forest lodge kennels should be ashamed of themselves

I was recommended Forest Lodge Kennels. My dog Sunny was kenneled there from August 22 to August 31. I visited the kennels the day before my trip abroad to check all was OK. I was asked at the time to bring in Sunny's bed, an expensive 'Memory Foam' mattress (Sunny has arthritis) and his blanket. (He has had that since he was a puppy. On arrival on August 22 I brought Sunny, blanket and bed and handed over all to the Team. Sunny was picked up on Aug 31 but no bed or blanket was returned. No explanation was given. I was told by one of the owners of Forest Lodge Kennels (FLK) that she could not help me as she wasn't there at the time of the collection. Although FLK keep individual record sheets of each dogs attendance (They had incorrectly recorded blanket and toys on this record.) Sunny's records had no reference that he had destroyed his bedding (Sunny is an 11 year old Retriever type and is very placid.) I was told that there was nothing to be done and no one could help me. I now have to buy another expensive dog bed. To me it is apparent that FLK do not care about dog owners who use their services. Is that the same with the dogs that are kenneled there by their trusting owners?
