The Northern School of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (NSCAP) is an NHS organisation committed to developing and promoting psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and the application of its core attributes, across the age range in health, education and social contexts. Our strategy is to achieve this by integrating psychotherapeutic practice, research and training into innovative and effective clinical services, consultancy, education and workforce development. NSCAP was establish up by the NHS in 2003 and is funded by Health Education England to support training and workforce development across the north of England. NSCAP is hosted by Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We are accredited by the Association of Child Psychotherapists, the professional body for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists in the UK, and an Affiliate Member organisation of the British Psychoanalytic Association. We work in partnership with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and the Universities of Leeds, East London, Northumbria and Essex. OUR AIM To meet the needs of children, young people, families and adults with emotional, relational, learning and behavioural difficulties, especially where these are severe or complex, by developing the skills and competencies of the professionals who work with them. We integrate clinical practice, research and training into innovative and effective services, consultancy, education and workforce development. We focus our resources on a number of key areas that are of concern to a wide range of professionals and organisations and where we feel our distinctive developmental, relational and psychoanalytic approach can be most beneficial. • Infancy, early years and parenting • Adolescence and transitions to adulthood • Children who are looked after and adopted • Complex presentations and severe disturbance • Effective leadership for caring organisations
