The reserve is situated alongside the River Yale and the marshland is the remains of a bend in the river, which over thousands of years has changed its course to form an oxbow lake. There are a few hides along the footpath and if you venture just outside the extremities you may be lucky to discover the ruins of St Saviour’s church Surlingham which served the local Manor House. Great countryside and wildlife opportunities if you sit patiently.
