Very pleasant castle - impressive ruins, although a limited amount was open because of the pandemic (visited April 22nd 2021)and only two floors to see. Interesting little grotto and stunning surroundings - lots of great walks, but you wouldn't need to pay to do those. Small car park, toilets in the grounds and obligatory photo of Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman. A shade on the expensive side for the amount available to see, but a good day out all told.

Nice place to stay. I like the spacious grass garden. The lake is also beautiful. The staffs are gentle and friendly. Toilet kept clean.
Really nice place, amazing ruins, stunning view. There's also many footpaths for walkers.
Just excellent. Even though the castle is in ruins, the grounds are free and worth exploring. It'll take you about 15 mins to walk through but longer if you listen to the audio guide (code available by the entrance). On a nice sunny day , a picnic is amazing here !
Good walk. Unfortunately, i couldn't visit the castle due to lockdown but, from what I could see, really good.
Fantastic medieval castle in surrounding woodlands - all of which you can explore with lots of trails through the woods.
Great time the children loved running round and its just such a beautiful place to visit
Lovely, relatively small, English Heritage site. Online booking system, currently 6.50 for adults, which is reasonable value for what you get. Some rooms of the castle are relatively small areas so take a face mask for safety. There is an excellent audio tour which you use by downloading the app and the guide before you go using the password on the castle’s webpage and then following the numbered signs. Unfortunately only the ground and first floor are open at the moment (Sep-20). Take a picnic and blanket, plenty of room to spread out and take in a few rays.
