We went on the train on Santa Special train on Sunday morning and were so impressed with it. It felt completely safe and extremely well planned to ensure social distancing was followed. Almost more importantly though, it definitely felt that they’d really thought about how to not make that obvious to the kids. My daughter had an absolutely magical time- she loved that Santa knew her name and read it out of his book through the window and it really made her feel special.

Was there in august 2018 and it was a very nice day.. I managed the first train of the day because they holded back the train for me. Very friendly crew and the tea and cakes was a blast. Will go back someday for shure

We had a lovely time visiting the railway, the volunteers were very friendly and it was all quite organised. Currently you pay for single trips at 5 adult and 2.50 a child, ie. round trip is 10 / 5. Unfortunatly the heritage buses are not running, and I think this would have really made the day for the kids - we will prob visit again in the future when things go back to 'normal'. For complete clarity - there is very little parking in North Weald (none at the actual station) so you would have to find somewhere. We parked in Ongar at the library and as the station is in town there is a few more options.

This is the answer I received after waiting for more than one month for my refund. I have attached a screenshot asking for my refund and I have been told literally "I am desperate for my refund" extremely disappointed, it's just not right way, it shows an absolute lack of empathy from this company to their customers.

I sent a very polite email enquiring about my refund, as I had not received a response. Long story short, I had a reply telling me that I ‘must be in a right state’. I found this unbelievably rude especially as I have not yet received the full amount due to me. We were very frequent visitors, we will not be returning.

Had a great day out with my partner and 2 kids. We were greeted by a welcoming fire in the booking hall, which had an immediately nostalgic effect. Very friendly, enthusiastic and informative staff, who clearly love what they do. The stations and the rolling stock are well preserved with constant ongoing restoration. Parking is at a premium and local residents have recently employed a private company to impose fines on those who park close by without a residents permit.

Struggling because of Covid lockdown, EOR can't run their steam services or the beautiful heritage buses, but they still need everybody's support. Go online, buy some tickets and donate if you can, or risk losing a great London attraction. There is still a lot to enjoy and to see.
